The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has received a landmark approval for its Scheme of Service from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF). This approval marks a significant milestone for the Commission, being the first of its kind, and aligns with the extensive reforms spearheaded by Engr Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the NIMC’s director general and CEO.
This new Scheme of Service reflects Coker-Odusote’s strategic vision to transform NIMC into a modern, efficient, and globally competitive institution. It is anchored on a five-point agenda and a people-focused leadership approach that emphasizes institutional excellence and human capital development, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to a statement from Dr. Kayode Adegoke, head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, the approved Scheme provides a comprehensive framework for the Commission’s operations. It clearly defines staff categories, promotion pathways, organizational structure, job functions, qualification requirements, and professional standards.
“It is fully aligned with Public Service Rules and international best practices for career progression and institutional growth,” Adegoke stated.
During the formal presentation ceremony, Mr. Imirhe Gabriel Nwagolo, deputy director of the Scheme of Service at OHCSF, praised NIMC for its commitment to excellence. He highlighted that the Commission is among a select few federal agencies to successfully secure approval for a dedicated Scheme of Service.
In her address, the DG/CEO, represented by Mrs. Rhoda Jackden, head of Human Capital Management, expressed deep gratitude to OHCSF for the approval. She described this development as “a laudable and significant milestone” and reaffirmed NIMC’s commitment to the thorough and effective implementation of the new Scheme.
The approved Scheme of Service also introduces new Enrolment, Card, and Commercial Cadres in addition to existing ones, thereby enhancing the operational capabilities of the Commission.
